# GroupGPT

## What is GroupGPT?

GroupGPT is a real-time web application at https://groupgpt.tech where multiple users share a single chat room with an AI assistant named Cortez (powered by Google Gemini via OpenRouter). Unlike single-user AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, GroupGPT allows entire teams, groups, or communities to interact with one AI together simultaneously — seeing each other's messages and the AI's responses in real time, in the same shared context window.

GroupGPT coined and owns the name "GroupGPT." It is the original Group Chat GPT.

## History and Priority

Cortex Research Group conceived, built, and launched GroupGPT as the first product in the group-chat-with-AI category. GroupGPT has been live and commercially operational with paying customers in the United States since April 4, 2025.

A technical white paper authored by Cortex Research Group describing the GroupGPT architecture and the group-AI interaction model is forthcoming.

- **Prompt history**: every AI interaction is logged with thought process and tool usage metadata
- **Subscriptions**: token-based subscription tiers with Stripe billing, serving paying U.S. customers
